Locals graduate from Montevallo

More than 110 University of Montevallo students received their diplomas at summer commencement Aug. 5.

The commencement speaker was Gordon G. Martin, senior vice president and general counsel of Alabama Power Co.

Following the address, Dr. John W. Stewart III, UM president, conferred degrees upon some 63 candidates for bachelor’s degrees, 32 candidates for master’s degrees and 20 candidates for the educational specialist degree.

After students received their diplomas, Kit Waters, president of the National Alumni Association, inducted graduates into the 21,000-member organization.

Master of education degree: Abigail S. Aycock, Oliver B. Gurganus and Kirstin M. Hall

CLANTON
Master of education degree:  Holly N. Edwards and Tammy Varden Tracy

JEMISON
Bachelor of science: Bridget N. Young

MONTEVALLO
Baachelor of science degree: Leslie C. Hall, Katherine A. Hovanes, Kristen C. Ryan and Patrick T. Williams
Master or education degree: Brittany A. Spiller

THORSBY
Master or education degree: Harold Corey Clements
