A Clanton man died Sunday morning following a physical altercation in West End.

Keino S. Reed died after being struck with a chair and hitting his head on the sidewalk, according to authorities.

An acquaintance of his, Terry Parker, was arrested on charges of murder and is currently in the Chilton County Jail without bond.

Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell says it appears the two men were in some kind of physical altercation Sunday around 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of Liberty Street and First Avenue. It isn’t clear why the two men were fighting.

After punches were thrown, Parker allegedly came back and struck Reed under the jaw with a chair, according to police. Reed fell to the ground, hitting his head on the sidewalk. Both men are in the mid-30s.

Stilwell said an autopsy has been ordered and would likely be performed Tuesday morning to determine the exact cause of death.
