Troy Benson Day was officially declared recently at Rocky Mt. United Methodist Church in Jemison.

Benson, originally from the Union Grove area, has served as pianist for his home church at Rocky Mt. since the 1970s.

For about 20 years prior, he was pianist for one of the Birmingham area’s most popular quartets, the Key Masters.

Benson received a plaque from Gov. Bob Riley and celebrated with many of his fellow church members and friends.
