One bad inning cost Clanton’s all-stars on Wednesday in the Dixie Youth Baseball O-Zone World Series.

Clanton gave up four runs to Pascagoula, Miss., in the fourth inning of an elimination game and lost 5-2 in Lexington, S.C.

The local players breezed through their first two tournament games, outscoring Paris, Texas, and Greenbrier, Tenn., a combined 34-3.

But Clanton ran into better pitching in the third round and lost to Sebring, the Florida state champion, and the bats didn’t come back alive in the loss to Pascagoula.

Clanton could muster only two hits, both by Colby Ramsey. J.W. Pitts, Koty Watts and Boyd Price all took walks.

Hunter Bennett scored one of Clanton’s runs in the game.

Still, Clanton outscored its opponent if you take away that fourth inning.

Tolliver GWilliland started the game on the mound for Clanton and pitched three solid innings, striking out four while allowing only two hits, one walk and one run.
