Chilton Medical Center and First United Methodist Church of Clanton have extended the deadline for a trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., as part an annual fall jubilee. The trip is hosted by CMC’s Senior Connection group. The deadline is now Aug. 15.
Those who go on the trip will attend a conference scheduled for Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at the Gatlinburg Conference Center at Glenstone Lodge. Sign-ups will be taken at CMC.
The trip is designed for area senior citizens to attend and escape the heat and stress as summer winds down. It also serves as a religious retreat for UMC members.
“The seniors of our church are invited to participate,” CMC Senior Connection Director Vanessa McKinney said. “It would be a special experience for everybody and a great getaway at the end of a hot summer month.”
McKinney said 20 more participants are needed.
Country music star Randy Travis, Dr. Charles Stanley, Johnny Hunts and many gospel groups and comedians will be on hand for the conference.
For more information on the trip, contact McKinney at CMC at 280-3346.
The trip is booked through Adventure Travel in Birmingham.
Senior Connection has helped local seniors become more active at CMC. Although this class consists of mostly ladies, it is open to all adults age 50 and older. To learn more about this, also contact McKinney.
