Tom Brown was named Lion of the year by the Clanton Lions Club, and we couldn’t agree more with the selection.

Brown filled in admirably when Richard Davis was unable, because of health concerns, to assume his usual role as organizer of the Peach Festival.

“His service this year was remarkable,” Lion Hollis Jackson said when presenting Brown with the award.

Davis and the festival have become synonymous, and so stepping in for him was no small task. But the pageants and other parts of the festival went off smoothly, and Brown deserves the Lion’s share of the credit.
