William “Bill” Oswald Nelson, 86, of Clanton died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
He was born Sunday, Jan. 13, 1924, in Chilton County, son of the late Monroe Nelson and the late Lola Johnson Nelson.
He was a retired airplane technician at Hayes International in Birmingham.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Carol Pounds Nelson of Clanton; two sons, Rodney (Lynn) Nelson of Corpus Christi, Texas and Dale (Shirley) Nelson of Gulf Shores; daughter, Frieda (Wendell) Parrish of Clanton; six grandchildren, Greg (Misty) Nelson, Amanda Nelson, Kenton Nelson, Keelan (Sunni) Parrish, Kaleena (Christopher) Johnson and Kyle Parrish; three great grandchildren, Abigail Sanchez, Jodi Parrish and Dallas Johnson; sister, Dorothy Dean (Cary) Wood; and two brothers, Gene (Dorothy) Nelson and Wayne (Jean) Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Earlston Nelson, M.O. Nelson, Lamar Nelson and Kenneth Nelson; and two sisters, Infant Marie Nelson and Nell Thomas.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 7 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Jack Andrews, Minister Bob Terrell and Minister Barry Elliott officiating.
Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton.
