Fireworks shows are scheduled this Fourth of July weekend for both Clanton and Lake Mitchell.

The Lake Mitchell show, which is put on by the lake’s Home Owners and Boat Owners association, will be held at 9 p.m. on July 3 at Cargile Creek.

The next day, the lake will feature a pontoon boat parade at 10 a.m. at Higgins Ferry Park and then a speedboat parade at 2 p.m. at Blue Creek.

Clanton will hold its fireworks show at 9 p.m. on July 4 at City Park.

If the show is rained out, it will be held on July 5 at the same time and place.

Clanton City Councilwoman Mary Mell Smith said patriotic music will be played in the park beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Also, residents are invited to shoot off their own fireworks at the park before the city’s show begins.
