Jemison to get new booster club

A meeting will be held Monday in hopes of forming an athletic booster club for the Jemison High School softball and volleyball programs.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the school’s Alton Cobb Gymnasium, said Leighsa Robinson, who coaches both sports.

Robinson said forming a club is necessary because the Jemison Athletic Club, which raised funds for all sports, has disbanded.

Robinson encouraged all those who played softball or volleyball at Jemison, or who just want to be involved with the programs, to attend the meeting.

The plan is to call the club the “Diamonds and Nets Club” and to have one meeting a month.

During the first meeting, the club will likely nominate and vote on officers. The club would begin accepting memberships, for $20 a year, in July.
