Charles Wade III

Mr. Charles William Wade III “Buddy,” age 80, of Centreville died at his residence on Wednesday, June 16, 2010.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Brent Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Davis Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton with Rockco Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Wade was a member of Brent Baptist Church, and the Bibb County High School baseball field was named in his honor. He helped organize the Dixie Girls Softball Association and was honored in the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. After serving in the Air Force, he was a flight instructor for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Wade of Centreville; daughters, Cheryl Deavours (Steve) of Northport and Janet Jackson (Walter) of Brent; son, Bill Wade (Kim) of Peachtree City, Ga.; brother, Cecil Wade (Kay) of Ellenwood, Ga.; sisters, Peggy Lowery of Eclectic and Janie Bates (Lally) of Clanton; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his two sisters, Minnie Coggins and Elizabeth Emrick.

Serving as pallbearers are Brett Davis, Wes Allen, Matt Dunaway, Mike Gilroy, Mickey Bates, Terrance Purifoy and Richard Bates.
