Two county softball teams had their season ended on Friday, and two others are still fighting for berths in the state tournament.

Isabella and Thorsby dropped their first two games at the South Central Regional at Troy and were eliminated.

Chilton County split two games, and Maplesville won two.

Maplesville beat Billingsley, 10-0 in five innings, and Wadley, 15-0 in four innings. The Red Devils will play the winner of Friday night’s Faith Christian-Sweet Water game at 11 a.m. Saturday, and a win would guarantee a spot at the state tournament.

Courtney Killingsworth pitched both of Maplesville’s wins, allowing only four hits while striking out 17 batters.

Heather Chambers and Bayne Edwards each recorded four hits in the two games combined.

CCHS defeated Valley, 9-1, but lost to Chelsea, 3-0.

The Tigers will play Demopolis at 8 a.m. Saturday in an elimination game.

Lindsey Parrish was the winning pitcher in the first game Friday for Chilton, and Brianna Cleckler suffered the loss in the second game even though Chelsea’s first two runs were unearned and CCHS left the bases loaded in the second inning.

Cleckler went 3-for-3 with a home run against Valley.

Isabella fell to Zion Chapel, 8-4, and Horseshoe Bend, 16-3.

Thorsby lost to Goshen, 3-2, and Clay County, 10-4.
