The LeCroy Career Technical Center in Clanton will host its inaugural Car and Antique Tractor Show on Saturday, May 8 beginning at 9 a.m.
The entire LCTC campus will hold an open house to those who attend or wish to tour the facility.
The cosmetology program will offer haircuts and manicures for a small charge. The health science program will check people’s weight, body mass index and blood pressure for free.
The horticulture program will hold a plant sale.
Automotive instructor Lee Brown said the car show is a great way to highlight the LCTC to the community and do some fundraising for the next school year.
He and Tim Littlefield, body shop instructor, planned the event.
“I’m looking forward to this as a chance to promote our school,” Brown said. “The biggest thing we’re doing with it is getting people to see us out here, and we can maybe make some money for our programs.”
Brown said some of the school’s funds will be cut next year, lowering the budget and preventing some programs from meeting goals.
“We’re hoping to use this to make up for some of those losses,” Brown said. “We’ll use it to buy tools and equipment for the shops as well as the other programs.”
Admission to attend the show is free to the public.
Those who wish to enter the car and tractor show must pay a $20 entry fee and $30 for multiple entries.
Those who enter the event will be eligible for a money tree raffle along with door prizes, including cash. Non-entrants will also be eligible for door prizes.
There will be goody bags for the first 10 who register for the show.
LCTC students and other bands and DJs will provide live music. Entrants can park cars on asphalt and tractors on grass.
All proceeds go to LCTC programs.
A cruise-in will follow in downtown Clanton.
The LCTC is located at 2829 Fourth Avenue in Clanton. For more information, contact Tim Littlefield at 280-2931 or Lee Brown at 280-2932.
