Jemison slipped by Calera, 10-9, on Tuesday to improve to 4-0 in area play.
Amber Simmons won the game with a two-out hit that scored two runs.
Calera went ahead 9-8 in the final inning, but Tanya Liveoak, Denten Ellison (an eighth grader filling in for normal shortstop Shelby Lopez, who was injured during the game), and then Simmons recorded hits to end the game.
Freshman Hannah Smith was also pressed into duty for the game and played well, said coach Leighsa Robinson, who returned to the dugout after missing several games for health and personal reasons.
“I was so glad to be back with the girls,” Robinson said. “I’ve missed them more than they will ever realize.”
