Chilton County on Tuesday clinched a spot in the Class 5A baseball playoffs with an 11-3 win over Carver-Montgomery that coach Josey Shannon said was closer than the score would indicate.

The Tigers led by only one run, 4-3, in the fifth inning.

Chance Calloway pitched a complete game, and Tanner Powell went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double.

“They’re excited about [making the playoffs],” Shannon said. “But we’re still just focused on building the program.”
