Kenneth “Ken” Messer

Kenneth “Ken” Messer, age 65, of Clanton passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20 at 2 p.m. at Clanton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Dovey and the Rev. Larry Anderson officiating and Lawrence Brown Service Funeral Home of Selma directing.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Mr. Messer is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann Messer, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Judson Messer.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Judson “Jud” Messer, Jr. (Tammy); his daughter, Ann Messer Glasscock (Tommy); his two granddaughters, Morgan E. Glasscock and Lynsie R. Glasscock; his sister, Hazel Thomas; a brother, Hollis Messer (Jo); numerous nieces and nephews and several young people who called him “Grumps.”

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Clanton First United Methodist Church in his name.

The family would like to invite friends to a reception immediately following the service at Helen’s Place.
