Clarence Hilyer

Clarence Edward Hilyer, 68, and a resident of Clanton, passed away on March 12, 2010, at his residence.
He was born on April 28, 1941, in Chilton County, the son of the late Henry Grady Hilyer and the late Ruby May Glazner Hilyer.
Mr. Hilyer served his country in the United States Air Force. He was also a retired truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kelly Hilyer of Clanton; sons, Bryan Keith (Jenny) Hilyer of Jemison, Brady Kent (Angie) Hilyer of Jemison, and Jason Heath (Karen) Hilyer of Calera; step-sons, James Lavelle Cobb of Clanton, Tony DeWayne (Darlene) Cobb of Tupelo, Miss., and Damon Bradford Cobb of Centreville; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Faye Gentry of Clanton, Betty Jewel Nicklson of Billingsley; brother, Robert Earl “Bobby” (M.L.) Hilyer of Dothan; sister-in-law, Sandra Hilyer of Jemison; and mother of three sons, Becky Su Sammons of Jemison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, along with brothers Henry Hilyer Jr. and Douglas Hilyer, and an infant sister.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, March 13 at the Union Grove Baptist Church in Jemison.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 14 from the Union Grove Baptist Church in Jemison with the Rev. Thomas Earl Hilyer officiating.
Burial will follow in the Union Grove Community Cemetery in Jemison with Ellison Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing the services.
