Certification will mean safer roads

Commercial vehicles are a common sight on our county and city roads, so it only makes sense that Chilton County and Clanton should have officers trained to inspect these vehicles for equipment or safety violations.
We do now.
Three local law enforcement officers—Sgt. Darrell Bone of the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office and Jason Harris and Cpl. Mike Hegwood from the Clanton Police Department—earned certification that will allow them to inspect trucks and buses and ticket them for any violations.
We’re glad to see these officers earn this certification because it will mean our roads will be safer, and it could reduce the wear on the roads.
We all know that would be a welcome development.
