Though it was a cold start to the baseball season, it didn’t take long for the Maplesville bats to heat up.

The Red Devils struck for eight runs in the first inning and took a 13-3 win at Billingsley on Tuesday in both team’s opener.

James Madsen was 4-for-4 for Maplesville, and Bobby Smith was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.

Tyler Crumpton earned the win, and Donnie Smith suffered the loss though he recorded an RBI single.

Billingsley’s Dalton Ackerman had a two-run double in the bottom of the first.
