All games involving local baseball teams scheduled for Monday, the first day of the regular season, have been canceled.

An extended period of wet weather, including rain Sunday night, forced the cancellations.

“Our field is underwater,” said Ab Argent, whose Thorsby team was scheduled to host Verbena on Monday.

The game has been rescheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Chilton County was supposed to play both Hoover and host Tuscaloosa County on Monday. Instead, the Tigers will play those opponents at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, respectively, coach Josey Shannon said.

Isabella’s game against Leroy at Marion Junior College was canceled, and Isabella coach Clay Shearer said the game probably would not be rescheduled.

Jemison was set to host LAMP and Stanhope Elmore on Monday. JHS coach Jason Easterling said a decision could be made Tuesday about a make-up date with LAMP only.

Maplesville won’t be able to play a doubleheader at Southside-Selma. The Red Devils and the Panthers will play one game beginning at 4 p.m. Friday.
