A Lomax area church is offering parents a “night out” this Valentine’s Day while their kids spend a “night in.”

Lomax Assembly of God is hosting its first-ever Valentine BlowOut on Sunday, Feb. 14 from 5-9 p.m. Couples may drop off their kids at the church during the listed hours for a free night of games, skits and other activities.

“We wanted to provide our parents with a night out to enjoy themselves — kind of a date night,” Student Pastor Erron Price said. “And we wanted to remind our community of the same thing.”

While the event is intended to allow husbands and wives some alone time, Price said it’s more than a baby-sitting program.

Kids will enjoy activities like a 50-foot inflatable obstacle course, eating contests, free pizza and drinks, live music by the EPIC praise and worship band, videos, student dramas and a creative Gospel presentation.

Price, along with Children’s Pastor Patrick Smitherman and youth worship leader Ryan Kilosky, will be supervising the event.

The theme of the Valentine BlowOut is Psalm 34:8, “Taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”

The BlowOut is primarily for kids ages 5-11. While registration is required, admission is free, Price said.
