Lynne C. Mathis, 63, of Newnan, Ga. died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Mrs. Mathis was born Sept. 27, 1946, in Birmingham to Morris and Virginia Johnson of Clanton. After much travel as a military wife, she settled in Riverdale, Ga. and then for the past nine years in Newnan. She was a mortgage loan officer for Home South and Chase Mortgage until forced to retire due to illness. She then devoted herself to family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Woodson P. Mathis Jr.; son, Woodson P. Mathis III of Ardmore, Okla.; his wife Cassandra and children Rachel, Rebekah, Daniel and Jonathan; son, Russell M. Mathis of Newnan, Ga.; his wife, Christy and children Zachary, Joshua and Virginia; and her sister, Jennifer Howard of Clanton.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Dec. 29 at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan, Ga. Interment will be a private service in the family plot in Clanton on Jan. 5.
