A newly elected Calera official recently endorsed a candidate for Chilton County’s Senate seat.
On Nov. 23, Calera Mayor Jon Graham, who was confirmed as the city’s new mayor earlier this month, announced his endorsement of Rep. Cam Ward, R-Alabaster, who is seeking election to the State Senate in 2010.
“I’ve worked with Cam Ward over the years as a legislator from Shelby County,” Graham wrote in a press release. “He’s been a tireless advocate for economic development for our area, and has displayed an enthusiasm for public service which our community truly appreciates.
“I’m supporting Cam for the Senate because he’ll take that drive and experience to Montgomery as our next senator, and I urge the citizens of Calera to support him as well,” Graham added.
Ward called the endorsement an “honor,” and said he looked forward to representing Calera in the State Senate.
“Having the support of Mayor Jon Graham is an honor, and I am most grateful,” Ward wrote in the press release. “He is truly an ambassador for the city of Calera and all of Shelby County.”
“I look forward to representing Mayor Graham and the citizens of Calera,” Ward added.
Ward is seeking the Senate seat occupied by Hank Erwin, who is running for Lt. Governor.
