Outlook Isabella coach Amy Springer said she wouldn’t be surprised if her team started slowly after the beginning of practice was pushed back because many of the Mustangs also play on the volleyball team that made it to the state tournament. But Springer said she wants the team hitting its stride in December, in time for the beginning of area play.

Outlook The Panthers are still a young team fighting to improve, but there is optimism. Shelby Lopez can dribble and score, Kelsie Mims is a dangerous shooter, and Codi Mims and Katika Nunn are solid down low.

Outlook Maplesville must replace last year’s backcourt of point guard Tanisha Bailey and shooting guard Bridget Nichols. But Kiana Andrews started at the point last year before a season-ending injury, and coach Eric Bailey has more shooters to choose from this year to offset the loss of Nichols, a 3-point threat.

Outlook Verbena last season won its first game in four seasons, but starters Connie Dale and Megan Whittle were lost to graduation. Brandy Driver and Imma Sanders will have to step into leadership roles as the team’s only seniors, and coach Jennifer Ingram will hope that several of six ninth graders on the team can contribute.
