Elbert Baker

Elbert Edsel Baker, 81, of Verbena died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
He was born Friday, May 25, 1928, in Winter Garden, Fla., son of the late Franklin Enoch Baker and the late Bertha Emfinger.
He was an engineer.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Fern Baker of Verbena; son, Phil Baker of Clanton; two sisters, Sue (Marshall) Waites of Clanton and Carolyn Maddox of Clanton; brother, Hershel (Eunice) Baker of Opp; grandson, Phillip Edward “Bunky” (Heather) Baker of Clanton; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Nobles officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Clanton.
The family requests no flowers; donations may be made to Mt. Pisgah Church.
