It’s almost that time of year when people start thinking about New Year’s resolutions.

The Better Living Center in Clanton will help people keep a common resolution —to quit smoking.

The center will offer a six-week “Smoke No More” program, beginning Nov. 3.

The first two classes will be free and will help people determine how committed they are to breaking their nicotine addiction.

After that, the class will cost $50, which will cover supplies.

“It covers materials they will be receiving,” said organizer Kim Rose. “We’re not here to make any profit off anything.”

Rose said the $50 is almost as much as people spend on one carton of cigarettes.

Besides quitting smoking, the class will also explore ways smokers can deal with stress and manage weight without cigarettes.
