Southern Pride makes town proud

Thorsby High School Southern Pride Rebel Band made straight 1’s at the Lake Martin Invitational Marching Contest in Alexander City on Oct. 3.
The band scored superior ratings in all categories: drum major, colorguard, percussion and marching band.
The colorguard won Best in Class A. They also finished fifth overall out of the 20 bands there.
The drum line came in second place in Class A. They missed first place by 6 tenths of a point. Drum Major Katie Scott came in second place in Class A and tied for fifth overall.
The Southern Pride Rebel Band came in first place in Class A as most entertaining band and second place in Class A as Overall Marching Band.The band finished fourth out of everyone as Most Entertaining Band, beating much larger bands.
They will compete again Oct. 17 at a competition in Pell City.
