County Road 61 in the Jumbo community remains closed, but County Engineer Tony Wearren said a needed pipe will arrive next Monday.
A bridge on the paved roadway partly washed away after heavy rains last month. Debris collected by the floodwater caused supporting bands on pipes underneath the bridge to come loose, eating the road away from the bottom.
Wearren told the county commission Tuesday that supplies would arrive next week, but repairs depend on some drier weather.
“We’re still waiting on it to stop raining,” said Wearren. “If anyone has any favors up there, please call it in.”
The county engineer also announced a project that will be funded by the Federal Highway Traffic Administration.
Federal money will be used to resurface County Road 59 from Interstate 65 to County Road 24.
U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-Vestavia Hills) secured the earmark for Chilton County, Wearren said.
