Charles Hermie Moates, 69, of Verbena died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
He was born Thursday, March 28, 1940 in Alabama, son of the late Jessie C. Moates and the late Annie Lois Mims Moates.
He was a truck driver.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ida Lee Moates of Verbena; daughter, Mrs. Paula (Rev. Paul) Lett of Pell City; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Addison and Austen Lett of Pell City; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Roper of Prattville and Mrs. Betty Royal of Deatsville; brother, Mr. James “Buddy” Moates of Verbena; and a number of nieces, nephews and many loving friends.
Services will be held Friday, Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Jones, the Rev. Dearl Lett, the Rev. W.L. Adams and the Rev. Wendell Kelley officiating.
Interment will follow in Verbena Cemetery.
