Gov. Bob Riley was handing out $423,000 this week, and the city of Jemison got a slice of the pie.
Jemison will receive a $30,000 grant from the state to be used for the city’s park system.
Jemison Mayer Eddie Reed said the grant amount would be matched by the city then used to purchase new park equipment and possibly improve the city’s four tennis courts.
Jemison has already seen some population growth and is sure to see much more in the coming years. With a new intermediate school being built, new sidewalks being installed and, now, parks being improved, the city and its leaders look like they are ready for the growth.
