A pair of Clanton men has been arrested in connection with a home invasion last Wednesday.

Darrius Dejuan Houston, 22, faces charges of burglary, assault and disorderly conduct. Justin Cornelius Kine, 19, is accused of conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to commit assault.

Clanton police and Chilton County sheriff’s deputies arrested the men Monday afternoon at Ashley Court Trailer Park.

A third man, Richard T. Agee, was charged Friday with assault and burglary.

An unidentified Clanton man came home from work Tuesday, Aug. 1 around midnight to find three masked men with guns in the house.

After a struggle, the homeowner was shot in the leg.

Police believe the burglars targeted and hoped to get money from someone else that lived in the home—not the victim. Several people lived in the house, according to Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell.

“The victim … he’s just an innocent guy who came home from work,” said Stilwell. “He got off work, came in the door, and they were there.”

The victim was transported to UAB Hospital where he was treated until released Friday. He has since had to have further treatment for an infection, Stilwell said.

In addition to the arrest, Clanton detectives searched two trailers at Ashley Court for evidence used in the shooting or items taken from the home during the burglary.

Both Houston and Kine are currently in the Chilton County Jail. As of Tuesday night, bond had not been sent.

Kine was already out on bond for previous narcotics charges.

Agee’s bond was set at $100,000. As of Friday, he was being held without bond on unrelated domestic violence charges.

Police think the men met up at a central location in West End and walked to the victim’s house.

Authorities are still looking for a fourth suspect. Police think he’s no longer in Chilton County but are optimistic an arrest will be made.

“The case is coming to a close, but we still anticipate charging at least one more subject in the matter,” Stilwell said.
