A Clanton man has been charged in connection with a burglary Tuesday in which a homeowner was shot in the leg.

Richard T. Agee has been charged with first-degree assault and burglary. Bond was set at $100,000 on both charges.

As of Friday afternoon, Agee was being held without bond on unrelated domestic violence charges.

Authorities are still searching for five other suspects in the home invasion, according to Police Chief Brian Stilwell.

An unidentified Clanton man came home from work Tuesday to find three men in his house. The burglars were wearing Halloween masks, and at least two were carrying firearms, Stilwell said.

After a brief struggle, the homeowner was shot in the leg. He was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment and was released Friday morning, Stilwell said.

Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened. Stilwell said police don’t know if there was a connection between the homeowner and the suspects.

Agee was found by tracking dogs, hiding in the woods near Peachtree Apartments.
