Electric plays on both sides of the ball delivered Maplesville a convincing 35-0 win Friday at rival Billingsley.

The Red Devils found the end zone with a couple of long touchdown plays and picked off several interceptions to set the tone through the first half.

Maplesville first got on the scoreboard with a 50-yard touchdown run by quarterback Mathew Hamner, the team’s leading rusher.

A good extra point attempt put the Red Devils up 7-0 with 4:50 to go in the first quarter. Maplesville would strike again minutes later with a 45-yard touchdown pass from Hamner to Dustin Stephens.

Two more scores by the Red Devils—a Hamner keeper from the 1-yard line and a 20-yard pass from Hamner to Chris Bailey—put the game out of contention and 28-0 at halftime.

Hamner would get his fifth total touchdown at 2:43 in the third with a 3-yard run.

Billingsley had opportunities—including a possession inside Maplesville’s 10-yard line—but the team couldn’t capitalize.
