James Sims

Mr. James Coplin Sims, age 86 of Fultondale passed away on Aug. 12, 2009. He was born May 6, 1922 in Clanton to parents Benjamin Harrison Sims and Anstis Bruce Sims.

Surviving are his daughter Jamile Sims of Douglasville, Ga.; brother Benjamin H. Sims II and nephew Benjamin H. Sims III, both of Clanton; niece Ina Faye Anderson of Gardendale; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mr. Sims was married to Alma Walker of Dexter, Mo., and widowed in 2004 after the death of his beloved wife, Mary Frances Parker Sims of Brookside. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and retired from U.S. Steel after 36 years of employment as an electrician. Mr. Sims was an avid fisherman, traveled the United States extensively, and loved cooking for his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14. The family will receive friends at Bell’s Funeral Home from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Bell Funeral Home Forestdale directing.
