Help give the gift of life Thursday by donating blood.
LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, Inc. will have a blood drive Thursday, July 30 at Dollar General’s parking lot in the Clanton Marketplace.
The blood drive will last from noon until 5 p.m.
Donors need to bring photo identification and must weigh 110 pounds or more and be at least 17 years old.
Donors who are 16 years old must have a parent sign a consent form, which will be available onsite.
All blood types are needed, but particularly the negative blood types.
Melinda Hinds, district community development coordinator for LifeSouth, said the Dollar General location has been a productive one for blood donation, with 18 donors at the last drive.
“We usually only get like seven or eight donors for that timeframe,” Hinds said. “We’ve done as many as 27 there before.”
LifeSouth held a blood drive at the Clanton Walmart July 18 which attracted 32 donors.
“The people that live in that community are wonderful,” Hinds said.
Every person who donates blood will be registered to win a $500 travel voucher and will receive a “Blood Donors in Paradise” T-shirt.
Donors can give blood every 56 days.
