William Richard Mims, 68, of Thorsby died Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Chilton Medical Center, Clanton.
He was born Monday, Nov. 25, 1940 in Chilton County, son of the late William Perry Mims and the late Rosa Cleckler Mims.
He worked for the Chilton County Communications System as a dispatcher since 1972, where he became known as Paw-Paw.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanne Mims of Thorsby; daughter, Beverly Woodham of Birmingham; son, Keith Mims of Oak Harbor, Wash.; four grandchildren, Erica Lowery, Lark Lowery, Trinity Lowery, Alex Mims; two brothers, Johnny Mims of Clanton, Lloyd Mims of Spartanburg, SC.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patsy Lowery.
Friends will be received from 5-8, Wednesday, July 15 at Martin Funeral Home, Clanton.
Services will be held Thursday, July 16 at 11 a.m. at Thorsby First Baptist Church with the Rev. Von McQueen officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Assembly of God Cemetery, Clanton.
Members of the Chilton County Sheriff’s Department will serve as active pallbearers.
