Lemak Sports Medicine provides nationally recognized health care, which will soon be available in Chilton County.
Dr. Mike Patterson with Lemak Sports Medicine will move into the Shelby Baptist building on Highway 31 South across from Chilton County High School and begin seeing patients on Aug. 5.
“That care has been available in Jefferson County for a long time, and Dr. [Lawrence] Lemak has a following in Shelby County, but we wanted to bring that here,” Patterson said. “We’re looking at convenience.”
Patterson would perform orthopedic evaluations and care at the Clanton satellite office on Wednesdays while still performing surgeries at Shelby Medical Center.
Patterson, who is originally from Florida, completed his undergraduate work at Florida State University and played defensive back for the Seminoles football team from 1985-87. He completed medical school at the University of Florida in 1993.
Patterson performed an orthopedic residency at the Orlando Regional Medical Center for five years before a sports medicine fellowship with Lemak and Dr. James Andrews. Patterson has practiced privately for five years in Georgia and three years in Tuscaloosa.
Patterson, 42, is married and has three children, ages 5, 9, and 13.
