The Scandinavian Cemetery in Thorsby has recently been added to the Alabama Historical Commission’s Alabama Historic Cemetery Register.

Scandinavian Cemetery is the 20th cemetery in Chilton County to receive such a designation.

The Alabama Historic Cemetery Program helps to identify, document, register and conserve Alabama’s historic cemeteries. They recognize family and community cemeteries established at least 40 years ago.

The Alabama Historic Cemetery Register features 304 cemeteries across the state.
