Earl Washington “Snowy” Melton, 90, of Clanton died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at his residence.
He was born Friday, Jan. 31, 1919 in Chilton County, son of the late Lemmie Porter Melton and the late Nettie Riggins.
He was a tax collector.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia K. Melton of Clanton; daughter, Pat (Doug) Coe of Clanton; son-in-law, Troy Mims of Clanton; four grandchildren, Lynn Hauswirth, Dana Harmon, Les Mims, Bret Mims; six great-grandchildren, Krista Hauswirth, Anna Hauswirth, Jessica Harmon, Jordan Harmon, Natalie Harmon, Garrett Harmon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Melton and daughter, Judy Melton Mims.
Services were held Monday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Roland Davis, the Rev. Kent Dodson and the Rev. Robert Griffin officiating.
Interment will follow in Liberty Hill Baptist Cemetery, Clanton.
