Peach shows off the best of Chilton

The spotlight is never brighter on Chilton County than on the final two days of the Peach Festival, when the annual tradition culminates with the Peach Jam Jubilee and the Peach Parade and Auction.

The Peach Jam starts Friday night in downtown Clanton at 6. You will find entertainment at Corner Park, at the corner of Second Avenue North and Sixth Street. Spread out over several blocks will be nearly 100 booths featuring arts, crafts and food. There will also be exciting contests.

Saturday, the Peach Parade will roll through the streets of Clanton at 9 a.m., followed by the Peach Auction at 10:30 at Jack Hayes Field.

We hope you will have the opportunity to enjoy these events, and that you will take advantage of that opportunity. Regardless, everyone needs to remember that there will be more traffic than usual in our county this weekend.

Also, several of Clanton’s main thoroughfares will be closed to traffic Friday night and Saturday morning shortly prior to and during these events. Please be aware of these closings, and be patient. If you have to be on the road, make plans for appropriate detours.

We can all do our part to make Chilton County an attractive place for people to visit. Let’s make them want to come back.
