Chilton County Sheriff Deputies arrested a man late last month for selling marijuana, and in the process of the arrest, discovered he was in possession of 90 individual bags of pot.
On May 21, the department’s narcotics division received a call from a “concerned citizen” reporting Jason Tinsley was in the West End area of Clanton selling narcotics.
According to a Sheriff’s Department release Friday, deputies spotted Tinsley driving a white, Dodge Caravan on Martin Luther King Street. During the traffic stop, deputies discovered the 90 bags of marijuana and took Tinsley into custody.
“When the citizens work along with law enforcement, we can make a difference in our county,” Chilton County Sheriff Kevin Davis said. “This should be a notice to all who may commit a criminal act, not only is law enforcement watching you but the citizens may also be.”
As of Friday, Tinsley remained in the Chilton County Jail, being held without bond. He has been charged with first-degree possession of marijuana.
The department’s narcotics division also discovered and destroyed three meth labs in recent weeks, with the final arrest coming Tuesday.
The department arrested James Connell and Jason Millard on May 29 for manufacturing meth, while Kenneth Short and Cassidy short were arrested on May 30 for also manufacturing meth.
The final arrest was of Eddie Ralph Cleckler and Donna Caton on June 2 for manufacturing meth.
According to a department release, these discoveries bring the number of meth labs discovered to 50 since January.
