Orientation for Peach pageants this Sunday

The orientation for those wanting to take part in the annual Peach pageants will be held Sunday and, unlike last year, no extensions will be provided.
The orientation, which will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 3 at Clanton First United Methodist Church, is the chance for contestants ages 5 to 18 to enter this year’s pageants.
“We’ve had more interest this year than last year,” said Richard Davis of the Clanton Lions Club. “We have already had to take more applications back to a few of our locations. Something we didn’t have to do last year.”
Contestants will need to bring with them Sunday four pictures of the same pose, birth certificate, completed fact sheet and the $75 entry fee.
This year, the contestants in each division will take part in special events. Davis said Little Miss contestants will go to Petals From The Past, where they will be given a tour and then a chance to put plants in pots. Young Miss contestants will take a hayride through the orchards at Tom Bentley’s peach orchard and then pick peaches.
Junior Miss contestants will spend the day at Nail Star, where they will get their nails done while Miss contestants will spend the day at Studio B, where they will paint pictures of a peach.
