More than 75 local business leaders and community leaders took part in the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce’s business after hours Thursday hosted by The Clanton Advertiser.
The newspaper decided to host the event to showcase its facilities and highlight the new Weekend edition set to launch this weekend.
“It’s been a long time since we’ve had an event like this here, and we wanted to get everyone together,” Advertiser publisher Mike Kelley said. “We’ve had a tremendous turnout. It was great to see everyone who came by.”
Those attending were given a tour of the newspaper’s business office and printing facility. The Advertiser’s production manager Jimmy Ruff also put on a show for those attending, printing a special section on the company’s press, which featured a group photo of everyone who attended Thursday.
“We’re extremely proud of the kind of facility we have here and the quality work we are able to produce,” Kelley said. “It was fun to have everyone here to see our press run.”
The new Weekend edition debuts Saturday and will feature a new, multi-section look with a new sports section and special lifestyles page.
