Creativity aids fundraisers

When people put themselves aside to support a good cause, great things can happen. For example, in today’s paper you will read about a local man who is going all out to raise money for the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life.

The Rev. Jim Shannon of Lime Springs United Methodist Church is sitting on a toilet for about 24 hours straight for the cause. For each donation of $100, he pledged to sit for one hour. That’s quite a pledge.

Shannon, also the vice principal of Chilton County High School, is among a group of dedicated people at the school who will spend a night on the roof of the school for Relay.

We applaud everyone involved in these efforts.
