Isabella’s softball team took an early 7-0 lead over Maplesville yesterday and hung on for a 14-8 win.
The Mustangs (6-2) scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning on five hits—only two of which left the infield—two walks and an error.

The visitors stretched the lead to 7-0 in the second inning, when Machelle Maulding, Krysta Tyler and Dezaray Lodge had consecutive hits.
The Red Devils (5-3) fought back with two runs on three hits in the top of the third inning, but Isabella seemed to put the game away with five runs in the bottom half of the inning, helped by four Maplesville errors.
The guests weren’t done, though, as they scored three runs in the fourth and three runs in the fith.
Isabella plated a run in both the bottom of the fourth and the bottom of the sixth to provide the final margin.
Raelynn Liveoak earned the win by allowing eight runs on 12 hits and three walks in seven innings while striking out eight.
