Ruth Ellen Gletty, 91, of Thorsby died Wednesday, March 25, at her residence.
She was born on Sunday, Nov. 11, 1917 in Blount Springs, daughter of the late James M. Higgins and the late Irene Dunman Higgins. She was a floral designer.
Surviving are her husband, Phillip Gletty of Thorsby; three sons, Daniel Gletty of Cullman, David Gletty of Blountsville and James Gletty of Blountsville; daughter, Marilyn McMinn of Elberta; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Milton Higgins of Downey, Calif., and Herman Higgins of Rome, Ga.
Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Martin Funeral Home . Services will be held Sunday, March 29, at 12:30 p.m. at Thorsby First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tony Hughes officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 30, at 11 a.m. at Garden City Cemetery in Garden City.
