Bail was set yesterday at $150,000 for a suspect being held in Chilton County Jail for a murder that occurred here Monday night.

Sheriff Kevin Davis said yesterday Kori Lee Norris Scott, a 28-year old resident of County Road 151, had not made bail and is still in custody.

She is charged with the Monday night stabbing-death of 60-year old Donald H. Kemp, a resident of County Road 1051.

Kemp died as a result of a stab wound to the heart around 9 p.m. Monday at his residence.

Scott was charged with murder on Wednesday after the Sheriff’s Department received notification from the forensic lab about the cause of death.

A butcher-type knife was identified as the murder weapon.

According to Davis, when deputies arrived at the victim’s home, Scott was lying next to the victim on the floor. He said the suspect had minor scrapes and bruises, but her injuries were not life threatening.
