Katie Barnett, Thorsby—4/5, 2B, 3B, 4 R, RBI
Mary Gasson, Thorsby—4/4, 2 BB, 2B, 3 R, 3 RBI
Raelynn Liveoak, Isabella —3/4, 2 BB, 2B, 5 R, RBI
Dezaray Lodge, Isabella—5/6, 3 2B, HR, R, 7 RBI
The game was either tied or the lead changed hands on nine occassions.
Isabella took an early lead on a three-run home run by Dezaray Lodge in the first inning and held a 6-2 advantage until the hosts struck for five runs in the bottom of the second inning.
The Mustangs (4-2) came from behind to tie the game in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings
Neither team scored in the seventh to set up an extra inning.
Machelle Maulding, Krysta Tyler and Lodge hit consecutive doubles as the visitors scored four runs.
The ending wouldn’t have fit the game, though, without more dramatics.
The Rebels (3-3) scored two runs in their half of the eighth, helped by a dropped pop up and a bad hop on a ground ball to second base.
But Isabella catcher Kaylynn Culp made a nice throw to third baseman Tyler to pick off a Thorsby runner for the second out of the inning, and Raelynn Liveoak coaxed a comebacker to the mound to end the game and become the winning pitcher.
