Forrest Knight lined a single to left field yesterday to score Tyler Crowson from third and give the Chilton County junior varsity baseball team a 12-11 win over visiting Bibb County.

Crowson led off the bottom of the fifth inning and barely beat out the throw to first base after the Bibb County third baseman bobbled Crowson’s ground ball.

Crowson stole second, reached third on a wild pitch and scored on Knight’s hit, which negated Bibb County’s five-run rally to tie the game in the top half of the inning.

The Choctaws (5-5) recorded five hits in the fifth and took advantage of an error and a walk issued by Knight, who wound up the pitcher of record.

Knight struck out two.

Bibb County’s Josh Gunta suffered the loss.

The visitors struck for two runs on two hits and an error in the first, but the Tigers (3-1) answered with three runs on two hits, one walk and two errors.

CCHS added five more runs in the second on two hits and two errors. BCHS closed the 8-2 gap with four runs on three hits, two walks and an error in the fourth inning.

The hosts scored three runs on three hits and two walks in the bottom half of the frame.

Nathan Hudson, Austin Lucas and Blake Teel all drove in two runs for CCHS. Jalyn Osborne was 2-for-2 at the plate.
