Pates Chapel Baptist Church hopes to hear hundreds of motorcycle riders roar up to its door April 18 as participants in the Ride to Live Cancer Free.

Sponsored by the church to raise funds for Chilton County’s Relay for Life campaign, the riders will receive special shirts, lunch and an opportunity to win door prizes. Registration for the ride will be at Richard Wood Park in Thorsby from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A $25 registration fee will be charged for riders who ride alone and $35 will be charged to those who ride double.

“The ride will leave the park at 10 a.m. and will follow a route that will carry the riders to Calera, to Montevallo, to Wilton, to Maplesville and up Old Thorsby Road back to Thorsby and onto the church for lunch,” Terry Cobb, ride chairman, said. “Those who want to participate in the event but not ride,” Cobb added, “can join us for lunch at the church for a $5 donation.”

The Town of Thorsby will provide a police car to lead the riders along the route.

Those who have specific questions about the ride can contact Pates Chapel Church at 646-2827.
