A black male robbed Mystic Mart at gunpoint on Highway 22 last night, taking several hundred dollars.

Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell said the suspect entered the convenience store at 8:33 p.m., held the store clerk at gunpoint and left with about $500 cash.

The suspect was believed to be about 5’-7” or 5’-8” tall and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. He was carrying a silver semi-automatic gun.

The clerk told police that the suspect left the store on foot and ran toward town. No gunshots were fired during the incident, and no one was injured.

Clanton Police officers are still searching for the suspect.
